Hinge and housing repair
The defining failure on Satellite and older Portege models, repaired before it destroys the display cable.
Dynabook Repair
Toshiba sold its PC business and the laptops now carry the Dynabook name. Plenty of East Valley businesses still run both, and both are still supportable. We repair them, source parts intelligently, and help you plan the replacement of the machines that have genuinely reached the end.
The Brand Change
Toshiba exited the consumer and business PC market and sold the division to Sharp, which now sells those machines under the Dynabook name.
That transition matters for support in a very practical way. Machines built before the handover carry the Toshiba badge and have long since passed end of support, while the Dynabook-branded Portege and Tecra models that followed are current business hardware with proper warranty channels. Most offices we visit have a mixture, usually because a handful of reliable Toshiba laptops simply refused to die and stayed in service long after everything around them was replaced. We work on both, and we treat them differently.
For legacy Toshiba units the practical constraint is parts. The manufacturer's supply for Satellite, Portege and Tecra models from the Toshiba era has dried up, so buying the part by laptop model number is often a dead end. What still works is cross-referencing at the component level. Display panels carry their own part numbers on the back of the panel, and an equivalent panel of the same size, resolution, connector type and backlight arrangement will fit regardless of which laptop it originally shipped in. Keyboards, fans, hinges and charge boards can often be identified the same way. That approach keeps machines running that other shops turn away as unsupportable.
Hinges are the headline problem, especially on the consumer Satellite line. The hinge is anchored into a plastic mount inside the display housing, and after years of use that mount cracks. What owners notice first is the bezel lifting away from the screen near one corner, or the lid becoming stiff. Left alone the hinge tears through the housing and takes the plastics and often the display cable with it. Repaired early it is a modest job.
One genuinely worthwhile upgrade on any surviving Toshiba-era machine is storage. Many of these shipped with mechanical hard drives, and swapping to a solid state drive transforms them for a small cost. Our SSD upgrade service covers the process, including cloning the existing installation so nothing has to be rebuilt.
For businesses standardised on Dynabook hardware we run the whole lifecycle: firmware, docking, standard imaging and disk encryption with recovery keys escrowed to your directory. The harder conversation is the legacy machines. Windows 11 requires a modern security chip and a processor from Microsoft's supported list, and most Toshiba-era hardware meets neither. Since Windows 10 stopped receiving mainstream security updates in October 2025, machines stuck on it are quietly accumulating risk every month they stay on the network. That does not mean throwing them out tomorrow. It means knowing exactly which machines are affected, deciding what each one is allowed to touch, and sequencing replacements across a budget cycle rather than in a panic. See our Windows support page for how we run that audit.
Where a machine does reach the end, we handle the ending properly. Data migrated to the replacement, profiles and licences carried across, the old drive securely erased or physically destroyed, and the hardware recycled responsibly rather than left in a cupboard. If a drive has already failed before we get there, our data recovery team takes it from there.

Migration
Every machine listed with its model, age, security chip status and whether it can move to a supported operating system.
Keep, upgrade or replace, decided per machine against what each one actually does in your business.
Data, profiles, licences and printers moved to the replacement, with the user working the same day.
Drives securely erased or destroyed with documentation, and the hardware recycled responsibly.

Yes. The PC division was sold and now trades as Dynabook, and while manufacturer parts for older Toshiba models have dried up, most components can be sourced by cross-referencing part numbers at the component level. Panels, keyboards, fans and hinges are all identifiable that way.
That is the hinge mount cracking inside the display housing, and it is the most common structural failure on these machines. Bring it in before it worsens. Once the hinge tears fully through it usually takes the plastics and the display cable with it, which turns a modest repair into an expensive one.
If the machine is otherwise sound and still has a job to do, yes. Replacing a mechanical drive with a solid state drive is inexpensive and produces the single largest improvement available on that hardware. We clone the existing installation across so nothing needs reinstalling.
Almost certainly not. Windows 11 requires a modern security chip and a processor from Microsoft's supported list, and Toshiba-era hardware generally meets neither requirement. That matters because Windows 10 stopped receiving mainstream security updates in October 2025, so those machines need a plan rather than optimism.
We do. Standard imaging, docking station configuration, firmware updates, disk encryption with keys escrowed to your directory, and warranty coordination when a machine needs to go back. It is the same lifecycle service we run on any business fleet.
We migrate the data, securely erase or physically destroy the drive with documentation for your records, and recycle the hardware responsibly. Old laptops sitting in a storeroom with readable drives are a genuine data risk, and clearing them out properly is part of the job.
