Computer Repair

Computer repair with no surprise invoices

We diagnose before we quote, and we quote before we touch a screwdriver. Whether it is one laptop that will not boot or thirty aging workstations across two offices, you get the same process: find the real fault, price it in writing, and give you the honest repair-or-replace answer.

🛡 Fixed Quote First Never Outsourced💰 Same-Day Response Family Owned

Overview

Diagnosis first. Always.

A blue screen, a fan that never stops, a laptop that boots to a black panel, those are symptoms. Repairs go wrong when somebody guesses at the cause and starts swapping parts.

Every machine that reaches our bench in Gilbert gets the same workup before anyone quotes a price. We pull SMART and NVMe wear data off the drive, run extended memory tests, watch thermals and clock behaviour under sustained load, read battery cycle count against design capacity, check power delivery at the jack and on the board, and read the Windows or macOS logs that usually explain the reboot nobody could reproduce in front of you. That takes time, and it is the reason our repairs hold.

Then a fixed number, in writing

When we know what failed, you get a written quote with a real total on it: parts, labour, and a turnaround estimate. No hourly meter running in the background. No phone call halfway through asking for another two hours. If the quote changes because we found a second fault behind the first one, work stops and you decide before anything else happens.

Sometimes the honest answer is not to repair. A seven-year-old consumer laptop with a failed board and a swollen battery is usually a worse buy than a current machine that will still be supported in 2030. We will say so, and we will still help you move your data across. Run the numbers yourself first with our free fix-or-replace calculator if you want a second opinion before you call.

One machine or a whole fleet

Single-machine repair is straightforward: bring it in, we diagnose, you approve, we fix. Business fleets are a different job. When you run twenty or forty endpoints, the questions change, which model families are still under warranty, which ones are out of driver support, which ones cannot take Windows 11, and how do we keep the office running while machines cycle through the bench.

For business clients we work in batches with loaner coverage where it matters, standardise images and drivers so every machine comes back configured the same way, and hand you an asset list showing age, storage health and remaining useful life. That list is what turns hardware replacement from a panic purchase into a line in next year’s budget. It is also the first thing we produce during a Pod Care onboarding.

Onsite, in-shop, mail-in or remote

Anything physical, screens, batteries, boards, thermal work, desktop rebuilds, is best done on the bench, and we cover pickup and drop-off across Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, Tempe and Queen Creek. Server rooms, all-in-ones bolted to reception desks and desktop fleets are usually faster onsite, so we come to you.

A large share of what people call “broken” is software: driver conflicts, a failed feature update, malware, a corrupt user profile, an Outlook cache that has eaten the disk. Those we fix remotely, often the same day, anywhere in the 50 states. Machines mailed in from outside Arizona are welcome too. We quote the same way and ship back insured. There is more detail on our PC repair site and our laptop repair site.

Data safety is not a bolt-on. Before we open a machine with a working drive, we image it. If the drive is failing, imaging comes first and everything else waits, a dying disk that gets powered on twenty times during troubleshooting is a disk you may not get back. Our techs are the ones who do the work; nothing is subcontracted, nothing is shipped to a third-party depot, and your drive never leaves our hands. If a disk is already clicking or a controller has failed, that is a data recovery job and we will tell you before we try anything that raises the risk.

How It Works

Four steps, no mystery

01

Describe it

Tell us the symptom, the model and when it started. Half the time we can narrow the likely cause before the machine arrives.

02

Full diagnostic

Storage, memory, thermals, power, battery health and logs. We find the actual fault instead of guessing at the obvious one.

03

Fixed quote

Parts, labour and turnaround in writing. You approve it before anything is ordered or opened. Nothing changes without your say-so.

04

Fix and verify

We repair, then run the machine under load and confirm the original symptom is gone before it goes back to you.

Not sure it is worth fixing?

Ask anyway. A five-minute conversation about model, age and symptom usually settles it, and we will give you the answer that costs us the sale if that is the right one.

What We Fix

The work that comes through the bench

Consumer laptops, business desktops, workstations and gaming rigs. Same process for all of them.

Will not power on

Dead DC jacks, failed charging boards, shorted rails and blown power stages. We meter the board rather than swapping a PSU and hoping.

Slow to the point of useless

Usually a worn spinning drive, a saturated SATA SSD or thermal throttling. An NVMe upgrade fixes more machines than any other single part.

Screens and hinges

Cracked panels, backlight failures, flickering caused by worn display cables and hinge assemblies that have torn out of the chassis.

Batteries and charging

Swelling, sudden shutdowns at 40 percent, and charge circuits that report full but never deliver. Swollen cells are handled and disposed of properly.

Overheating and shutdowns

Dust-packed heatsinks, dried and pumped-out thermal compound, seized fans, and cases where the fix is a full repaste rather than a new fan.

Malware, ransomware and profile damage

Removal, verification and cleanup, and honest advice about when a rebuild is safer than a clean-up. See our ransomware response site.

Why Orca

Why people bring machines to us twice

We have been doing this from Gilbert since 2015, and most of our repair work now comes from people we have already fixed something for.

01

Our techs, every time

Nothing is dispatched to a contractor and nothing goes to an out-of-state depot. The person who diagnosed your machine is the person who repairs it.

02

Quotes that hold

The number we write down is the number you pay. If we find a second fault, we stop and ask rather than adding it to the invoice.

03

We image before we open

Any drive that can still be read gets imaged first. Repairs should never be the reason you lose a file.

04

We will tell you not to

If the repair costs more than the machine is worth to you, we say so plainly and help you plan the replacement instead.

05

Business-grade parts

OEM or equivalent-spec parts, not the cheapest panel on the market. We tell you which one we are using and why before you approve.

06

It does not end at the repair

Backup, patching and monitoring are what stop the next emergency. Ask about Pod Care if you would rather not do this again.

Computer repair questions we get every week

How much does a diagnostic cost?

We charge a flat diagnostic fee for bench work, and it is credited against the repair if you go ahead with us. For simple questions over the phone there is no charge at all. You will always know the number before you hand the machine over.

How long will my repair take?

Software work and common parts like SSDs, RAM and most batteries are usually same day or next day. Screens and panels that have to be ordered typically run two to four business days. Board-level work and anything involving a rare part can run longer, and we give you a date range at quote time rather than after.

Will I lose my data?

We image any drive that can still be read before we start work, and failing drives get imaged first before any other troubleshooting. If a drive is already clicking or the controller has failed we stop and talk to you about data recovery, because repeated power cycles make those cases worse.

Do you come to my office or do I bring it in?

Both. Desktop fleets, all-in-ones and anything bolted to a desk are usually faster onsite, and we cover Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, Tempe, Queen Creek and the rest of the East Valley. Laptops and board-level work are better on the bench, and we can arrange pickup.

Can you fix it without me sending it anywhere?

Often, yes. Driver conflicts, failed Windows updates, malware, corrupt profiles, Outlook problems and printing issues are all remote fixes, and we support remote clients in all 50 states. Anything physical needs hands on the machine.

Do you work on Macs as well as PCs?

Yes. We handle Intel Macs, T2 machines and Apple silicon, including storage and memory limits that Apple silicon imposes on upgrades. Our Mac work has its own pages under computer repair, plus a dedicated Mac site.

My laptop is six years old. Is it worth repairing?

It depends on what failed and what you paid. A battery or SSD in a six-year-old business laptop is often good value. A logic board or a screen assembly on a consumer machine of that age usually is not, especially if it cannot run Windows 11. We give you the numbers and let you decide.

Can you handle repairs for a whole office at once?

Yes, and we schedule it in batches so nobody sits without a machine. We standardise the image and drivers so every unit comes back the same, and we hand back an asset list showing age, storage health and expected remaining life for budgeting.
