Remote Support Setup

Let us onto your screen, safely

Most problems are faster to fix if we can see them. This page walks through starting a TeamViewer session with an Orca IT engineer: what to click, what you will see, and how to be sure the person asking is actually us. It takes about two minutes.

🛡 No Install Required No Account Needed💰 You Approve Every Session Ends When You Close It

What This Is

A one-time door, not a permanent key

TeamViewer is the tool we use to see and control your screen while you watch. The version we send you does not install anything and cannot be used to reach your machine later.

When you help someone over the phone, half the call is spent asking them to describe what is on the screen. Remote support removes that step. You run a small program, read us a number, and we are looking at the same thing you are. Roughly four out of five of the problems we handle never needed anyone to drive anywhere.

The file you download is TeamViewer QuickSupport. It is not an installation. Nothing is added to your Start menu, no service is left running, and when you close the window the door closes with it. That is deliberate: a support tool that stays behind is a support tool that can be abused. Clients who want us watching their machines full time get a monitored agent instead, which is a separate, deliberate decision covered under managed IT.

The steps below are the same whether you called us or we called you back. If you have not spoken to anyone at Orca IT yet, start at our remote support page or the contact form and we will call you first.

Read this before you run anything

We never call you out of the blue about a virus, a warranty or a refund. If someone phones claiming to be from Microsoft, your bank, your internet provider or even from us, and asks you to run remote software, hang up and call us back on (602) 677-0779 yourself. A real support session only ever starts with a call you made.

Start a Session

Six steps, about two minutes

Do these while you are on the phone with your engineer, so somebody is there when the ID appears.

01

Confirm you are talking to us

If the call came to you rather than from you, stop and dial (602) 677-0779 yourself. That single habit defeats every version of this scam. Once you are certain, carry on.

02

Open the download link

In your web browser, go to qsme.tv/orcait. Type it into the address bar rather than clicking a link from a message you did not expect. The download starts on its own within a second or two.

03

Run the downloaded file

Look for the download at the top right of your browser, or in your Downloads folder, named something like TeamViewerQS. Open it. There is no setup wizard and no Next button, because it does not install. If Windows asks whether to allow the app to make changes, choose Yes.

04

Wait for your ID to appear

A small window opens showing Your ID, which is a nine or ten digit number, and in some cases a short password underneath it. If it says Connecting or Not ready, give it a few seconds while it registers.

05

Read the ID to your engineer

Say the numbers out loud to the person you are on the phone with, or type them into the chat if you are already in one. Nothing can connect to your machine until we have that number, and it changes every session.

06

Approve the connection and stay put

You will see a prompt asking you to allow the connection. Approve it, then leave the machine on with the window open. Your screen stays visible to you the whole time, so you can watch everything we do.

07

Close the window when you are done

Closing the TeamViewer window ends our access immediately. There is nothing to uninstall. If you want to be thorough, delete the downloaded file from your Downloads folder, though it is harmless if you leave it.

What To Expect

Things people ask mid-session

None of these are problems. They are just the parts that surprise people the first time.

Your screen may flicker or go black for a second

That is the display driver adjusting when the session starts, and again if we change a display setting. It settles on its own. On a machine with two monitors you may see both appear in our view, which is normal.

The mouse will move without you

That is us. You keep full control of your own mouse and keyboard at the same time, so if you need to stop something, move the pointer or close the window. It is genuinely shared control, not a handover.

We will ask before opening anything personal

Engineers are told to say what they are about to open and why. If we need to get into email, a banking site or anything with your data in it, we will ask you to type the password yourself rather than watch you do it, and we will tell you when to look away.

A restart does not end the appointment

If the fix needs a reboot, we will tell you before it happens. On a QuickSupport session you will need to run the file again after the machine comes back up, because nothing was installed to reconnect automatically. It takes ten seconds the second time.

Slow internet makes the picture blocky, not the fix slower

The image quality drops to keep the session responsive. It looks worse and works fine. If the connection is bad enough that the session keeps dropping, that is worth investigating in its own right, and our Wi-Fi guide is a sensible place to start.

There is a chat box if the phone is the problem

The TeamViewer window has a chat panel. If you are working on the phone the machine uses, or the audio is poor, we can type instead. It is also useful for sending you a link without spelling it out letter by letter.

The Other Version

When you need the full TeamViewer client instead

QuickSupport covers almost every support call. There are a few cases where the full application is the right answer, and your engineer will tell you if you are in one.

Unattended

A machine nobody sits at

A server in a closet, a signage PC, a machine at a second location. These need software that is actually installed and starts with Windows, because there is no one there to run a file and read out a number.

Recurring

Sessions several times a week

If we are connecting often, running the same download every time gets old. A properly configured installation with your permission is quicker and, importantly, still shows you when a session is active.

Download

Where the full version comes from

Only from teamviewer.com. Search results and download aggregators are a well-known route for bundled software, and a remote access tool is the last thing you want a repackaged copy of. Go to the address directly.

Decide Together

We will not install it quietly

Permanent remote access is a decision you make on purpose, not something that appears on your machine after a support call. If your engineer thinks you need it, they will explain why and you can say no.

TeamViewer questions

Do I need a TeamViewer account or a license?

No. You do not create an account, sign in or pay for anything to receive support. QuickSupport exists specifically so the person being helped has nothing to set up.

Can you connect to my computer whenever you want?

No. QuickSupport generates a fresh ID every time it runs, and it only works while the window is open. Once you close it, that ID is dead and there is nothing left on the machine listening for a connection. We would need you to run it again.

Can you see my screen when I am not in a session?

No. Nothing is installed and no background service is left behind, so outside of an active session there is nothing on your computer that we could reach. This is the main reason we use the no-install version for one-off calls.

What if I need to type a password while you are watching?

Tell us and we will look away or blank the screen on our side. Better still, do it after the session if the task allows. We never ask a client to read a password out loud, and any engineer who does is doing it wrong.

Someone called me and asked me to install TeamViewer. Was that you?

Almost certainly not. We only start a session on a call you initiated or a callback you were expecting. Remote access software is the standard tool in phone scams, so treat an unexpected request as fake, hang up, and call us on (602) 677-0779 to check. We will never be annoyed that you checked.

Is my data going through your office?

The session is a direct encrypted connection between the two computers. What we can see is your screen while the session is open, the same as if we were standing behind you, and we tell you what we are opening as we go.

The download did not start. What now?

Check whether your browser blocked it, usually shown as a small warning near the address bar or in the downloads list. Some workplace filters block executable downloads entirely, in which case tell your engineer and we will find another route. Do not turn off your security software to force it through.

Ready when you are.

Start a session now if you are already an Orca IT client, or send us a note first and we will call you back.
