Careers
We hire slowly, keep teams small, and expect engineers to own their accounts rather than pass tickets along. If you want to know your clients by name and actually finish what you start, this is a good place to work.
Working Here
Orca IT is family owned, based in Gilbert, and staffed entirely by our own people, which means every ticket that comes in belongs to someone in this building.
Most managed service providers grow by adding queue capacity. We grow by adding engineers, because we have never outsourced a client and do not intend to. For you that means a different daily experience: you are assigned to specific businesses as part of a pod, you learn their environments properly, and you see the outcome of your own work over years rather than in fifteen-minute increments.
It also means the work is broad. In a week you might harden a Microsoft 365 tenant with conditional access, rebuild a UniFi network for a dental office in Chandler, restore a Hyper-V guest from a Veeam-class backup, replace an NVMe drive in a partner's laptop, and sit in a Surface Check explaining a refresh plan to a business owner. Engineers here do not get siloed into a single tool for two years.
Troubleshooting reasoning above trivia. We would rather hire someone who can narrate how they isolate a fault than someone who memorized a syllabus. In interviews we walk through real failures and listen to how you think.
Communication that respects people. Clients here are business owners, office managers and practice staff, not technical peers. If you can explain a VLAN change without making the listener feel foolish, you will do well.
Documentation habits. The pod model only works if knowledge is written down. Engineers who document as they go make everyone around them faster, and we treat that as a core skill rather than an afterthought.
What we offer in return is straightforward. Competitive pay for the Phoenix market, support for certification and training, real equipment and tooling rather than whatever was cheapest, and a schedule that respects the fact that you have a life. After-hours emergency work happens, but it is structured and shared rather than dumped on whoever is newest. Because we are family owned, decisions get made here and not by a regional office in another state.
Openings vary. We hire when a pod needs capacity, not on a rolling basis, so the roles listed below may or may not be active in a given month. Send your resume anyway if the work sounds like your kind of work. We keep strong applications on file and we have hired months after a first conversation. Applications go through the contact form on this page.
If you want to understand the company before applying, read why Orca for the staffing philosophy, our purpose for what we refuse to do, and Services for the technical range of the work. Client-side questions belong at contact.
We will tell you if a role is not open, if you are not the right level yet, or what would make you competitive next time. Ghosting candidates is the same failure as ghosting clients.
Open Roles
Applications go through the contact form. Include a short note about the hardest problem you have solved.
Own escalated tickets across Windows 11, macOS, Microsoft 365 and line-of-business applications for a set of assigned clients. You will handle the problems Tier 1 could not close, drive them to root cause, and write up what you learned so the pod does not solve it twice. Expect a mix of remote work and site visits across the East Valley. Three or more years in a support role and genuine comfort with Entra ID, endpoint management and printer or peripheral chaos are what we look for.
Apply →Design, build and maintain client infrastructure: Windows Server and Active Directory, Hyper-V virtualization, Synology and RAID storage, Veeam-class backup, UniFi switching and wireless, firewall policy, VLAN segmentation and site-to-site VPN. You will lead migrations and network rebuilds, document everything you touch, and act as the escalation point for support engineers. Five or more years of hands-on infrastructure work, plus the judgment to know when the right answer is to replace rather than repair.
Apply →Run the Pod Guard side of the business: EDR tuning and alert triage, identity hardening and conditional access, email security including DMARC and lookalike-domain monitoring, vulnerability review, phishing simulation and incident response. You will also help clients meet the technical safeguards behind frameworks like HIPAA and PCI and produce the evidence for their auditors. We want someone who can explain risk to a business owner in one clear paragraph, not just produce a scan report.
Apply →The hands of the pod across Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, Tempe, Queen Creek and the wider Phoenix metro. Deployments and refreshes, cable and rack work, wireless installs and surveys, workstation and laptop repair including SSD and NVMe upgrades, screen and board-level service, and office moves. You are often the only Orca IT person a client sees that day, so presentation and clear communication matter as much as the technical work. Reliable transport and a clean driving record required.
Apply →The Deal
Six honest points, including the ones that will not suit everybody.
Being assigned to a pod means you see the same clients for years and get credit for the environment improving, not for closing volume.
Networking, servers, cloud identity, security and hardware in the same week. Good for generalists, less good if you want to specialize narrowly.
Writing things up is part of the job, not a chore appended to it. Engineers who skip it slow the whole pod down.
Emergency response for Pod Care clients is shared and scheduled rather than landing on whoever answers first.
The owners work here. Ideas about tooling or process get heard and acted on quickly, which cuts both ways. There is nowhere to hide.
We back training and exams for people actively using the material. We hire for reasoning first and build the credentials alongside the work.
Hiring Process

Twenty minutes on your background, what you want to be doing in three years, and what the role actually involves day to day.
We walk through real scenarios from our own work. No whiteboard riddles. We are listening for how you reason and what you do when you are stuck.
Come to the Gilbert office, meet the pod you would join, and ask them anything. Offers follow quickly after this stage.
Send your resume through the contact form. We reply to every applicant, including the ones we cannot hire.
Send your resume through the contact form along with a short note about the hardest technical problem you have solved. A cover letter is optional, but context on what you have actually built or fixed helps far more than a list of tools.
No, and we would rather be honest about it. Openings vary because we hire when a pod needs capacity rather than continuously. Apply anyway if the work fits you, since we keep strong applications on file and have hired people months after a first conversation.
Support and infrastructure roles are based in our Gilbert, Arizona office, with field work across the East Valley. The security analyst role can be hybrid. We are not hiring fully remote staff outside Arizona, because being physically able to reach clients is part of how we work.
They help and we support earning them, but we hire for troubleshooting reasoning and communication first. We would rather take a curious technician who can explain their thinking than someone with a longer certificate list and shallower judgment.
Four steps: resume, a twenty-minute phone conversation, a technical discussion based on real scenarios from our work, and an onsite meeting with the pod you would join. No trick questions and no unpaid take-home projects.
Some. Pod Care clients have after-hours emergency response, so coverage is shared across the team on a schedule rather than falling on whoever picks up. It is a real part of the job and we describe it accurately in the interview rather than after you start.
Someone who likes owning an environment end to end, writes things down without being asked, and can talk to a business owner without jargon. If you want to work on one narrow platform in a large siloed team, we are probably the wrong fit and we will say so early.
