Production data handling
Checksummed offloads, duplicate copies before wipe, and storage sized for the footage volume a real shoot generates.
Albuquerque, New Mexico
Orca IT is family owned in Gilbert, Arizona, and Albuquerque is close to home for us. Same desert climate, same regional rhythm, and a small named pod of engineers who handle every ticket instead of a rotating queue.
Overview
Albuquerque has an economy most cities its size do not: a national laboratory and Air Force research presence, an aerospace and defense supplier base built around them, a semiconductor plant across the river in Rio Rancho, and a film and television production industry that has become a genuine employer rather than a novelty.
Each of those brings a distinct IT requirement. Suppliers and subcontractors working around Kirtland and the labs inherit security expectations from the contracts above them, controlled unclassified information handling, access control, audit logging, media protection and incident response. Those requirements arrive as questionnaires and flow-down clauses long before anyone shows up to assess you. We implement and document the technical controls behind them: MFA and conditional access, endpoint detection and response, encrypted devices, centralized logging, restricted removable media and a written incident response plan. We are not an assessor and cannot certify you, but we can make sure the answers you give are true and evidenced.
Production work is the opposite problem. A show shooting out of the studio complexes on the south side or on location around the metro cares about one thing: getting enormous amounts of footage moved, backed up in duplicate and shared with post-production without ever losing a frame. That means fast local storage, checksummed transfers, redundant copies before anything is wiped, and network throughput that actually matches what somebody paid for. Production companies rarely need a full managed contract. They need someone competent for the length of a shoot who can also be reached at 10pm. We work that way when it fits.
Then there is the rest of the city: healthcare and dental practices spread from Uptown to the Northeast Heights, professional firms in the Journal Center corridor, tourism and hospitality businesses around Old Town, and a broad base of trades, distributors and family companies. For those, Pod Care gives you a full IT department at a flat monthly per-user cost, with no long-term contract required.
One genuinely local factor: dust and heat. Albuquerque shares Arizona's climate problems, and we know what they do to equipment. Fine dust clogs desktop and server intakes and pushes thermal throttling until a workstation feels mysteriously slow. Summer heat in an unconditioned closet is the most common cause of the “random” server reboots we get called about. When we assess a New Mexico site, closet temperature and airflow are on the list, not an afterthought.
The clock is the easy part. New Mexico is Mountain time but observes daylight saving, and Arizona does not. So from November to March we are on exactly the same clock. Your 9:00 is our 9:00. From March to November Albuquerque springs forward and you are one hour ahead of us, meaning your 8:00am is our 7:00am. That is the smallest gap of any city we serve outside Arizona, and it makes same-day turnaround simple. See how remote support works, or compare with our Tucson and Colorado Springs coverage on the full city list.
We are a five hundred mile drive from Albuquerque, not a continent away. For clients with a genuine need, scheduled onsite trips are possible, ask us during the assessment and we will be straight with you about what makes sense.

Checksummed offloads, duplicate copies before wipe, and storage sized for the footage volume a real shoot generates.
MFA, conditional access, legacy protocol shutoff and shared mailbox cleanup, plus a licensing review that usually finds waste.
Dust and heat kill hardware here. We monitor temperatures, flag failing fans early and plan closet cooling before summer, not during it.
Immutable backup copies for servers and Microsoft 365 with scheduled restore tests and recorded recovery times.
Named engineers who answer the same day and already know your environment, your apps and your quirks.

How It Works
What you run, who audits you, what is currently failing and how much it costs when it does.
A free remote assessment covering endpoints, servers, identity, network, backup and physical environment risks.
Backups, MFA, EDR coverage and unsupported systems get handled first, on a schedule that respects your production calendar.
Flat monthly management with 24/7 monitoring, patching, help desk and a recurring Surface Check leadership review.
Identical hours in winter, one hour apart in summer. Same-day means same-day.
Half the year, exactly. Arizona stays on Mountain Standard Time all year because we do not observe daylight saving, so from November to March our clocks match yours precisely. From March to November New Mexico moves an hour ahead of us. Either way it is the closest alignment we have with any out-of-state client.
Yes, on the technical implementation and the documentation. We build the access control, logging, encryption, media handling and incident response capability the clauses call for, and produce the evidence. Formal assessment and certification come from an authorized third party, not from your IT provider.
We do project work as well as ongoing management. For production, that usually means designing and standing up the storage and transfer workflow, then being reachable while the shoot runs. We will tell you honestly if a full managed agreement makes no sense for a twelve-week job.
More than people expect. Fine desert dust coats heatsinks and fan blades, which raises temperatures, which triggers thermal throttling, which users experience as a computer that has become slow for no reason. We track temperature and fan health remotely and flag machines that need physical cleaning before they fail.
We diagnose remotely, which resolves most issues outright. When hardware genuinely has to be touched, we preconfigure and ship the replacement and coordinate a vetted local partner to install it, with one of our engineers on the call the whole time. We do not subcontract the thinking, only the hands.
No long-term contract is required. Pod Care is flat monthly per-user pricing on a month-to-month basis, you own your hardware and licenses, and the initial assessment is free with the report yours to keep.
