Orlando, Florida

IT support for a city that never gets a slow week

Orca IT supports Orlando businesses remotely from Gilbert, Arizona. Tourism runs year-round here, the simulation and training sector runs on federal contracts, and hurricane season runs from June to November. All three shape what good IT support has to look like.

Overview

Three Orlandos, three sets of IT requirements

The tourist economy, the defense and simulation corridor, and the corporate and healthcare belt are effectively different cities with different needs.

Tourism and hospitality are the most visible. Hotels, restaurants, attractions, tour and transportation operators, event and catering companies and the enormous convention business around International Drive and the Convention Center all run at high volume nearly every week of the year. Their IT pain is concrete: guest Wi-Fi that must handle thousands of devices without touching the business network, property and booking systems that cannot go offline during check-in, card processing that has to satisfy PCI questions, and constant seasonal staff turnover that leaves accounts active long after people leave. We fix the architecture, then make provisioning and offboarding a documented process instead of a favor.

The simulation, training and defense corridor is Orlando's least-known major industry and one of its most demanding. Around Central Florida Research Park near UCF sits a dense cluster of modeling, simulation and training companies, plus the engineering and software subcontractors that support them. Working in that supply chain means security requirements written into contracts: controlled unclassified information handling, documented access control, MFA, encryption, logging and retention, and evidence you can produce during an assessment. Most small subcontractors have the capability and not the paperwork. We build both together as part of our security service.

The third Orlando is corporate and clinical: the healthcare and life science cluster around Lake Nona, the specialty practices and clinics spread across the metro, and the corporate offices, financial services and professional firms in downtown, Winter Park, Maitland and up the Lake Mary and Heathrow corridor. Those clients need HIPAA technical safeguards handled properly, email fraud defenses that hold, and a help desk that answers the same day. Our remote support service delivers that with named engineers.

Layered over everything is hurricane season. Florida businesses do not get to treat continuity as a theoretical exercise. Every client should know which systems must keep running, where the offsite backup copy lives, whether servers can be brought up in the cloud instead of restored to hardware, how phones follow staff who evacuated, and who does what in which order. We test that plan before June rather than discovering the gaps in September, and it is included in our managed IT plan rather than sold as a separate product.

A generator is not a plan

Power is one failure mode. Flooded premises, no staff access and a dead ISP are others. The plan has to cover all four.

What We Do

Where Orlando businesses get the most value

Continuity

Hurricane-ready recovery

Out-of-region backup copies, cloud failover for critical systems, forwarding for phones, and a written runbook a manager can follow alone.

Hospitality

Guest and business network split

High-density guest Wi-Fi genuinely separated from booking, back office and payment systems, with monitored controllers.

Defense

Contract security controls

Access control, MFA, encryption, logging and retention implemented and documented for simulation and training subcontractors.

Healthcare

Practice and clinic support

Encryption, unique identities, retained audit logs, imaging workstation performance and restores that are actually tested.

Payments

PCI-aware segmentation

Card environments isolated from guest and back-office traffic, with the documentation your processor asks for.

Help Desk

Pod Response

Front desk, kitchen, back office and field staff reach the same named engineers, same business day.

How It Works

Getting set up with a remote pod

01

Deep Dive

A free remote assessment of endpoints, servers, network, wireless, Microsoft 365 and backups, plus a review of your continuity plan.

02

Written findings

What is urgent, what is scheduled and what is fine, with storm-season work flagged for completion before June.

03

Onboarding

Agents deployed, security baseline applied, accounts cleaned up, offsite backups configured and restores tested.

04

Ongoing care

24/7 Pod Watch monitoring, named engineers on tickets, and after-hours emergency response for Pod Care clients.

Arizona hours cover your evening

We stay on Mountain Standard Time year-round, so Orlando is two hours ahead in winter and three in summer. Our afternoon is your after-hours window, which is when maintenance belongs in a hospitality business.

Why Orca

Why an out-of-state pod suits a Florida business

During a hurricane, the most useful support team is the one that is not in the hurricane.

01

We are not in the storm's path

Our engineers, our tools and our monitoring sit in Arizona. Your recovery does not depend on Florida power or Florida internet staying up.

02

The same engineers every time

Your pod is a small fixed group who learn your systems. No queue, no rotating technician, no re-explaining your setup.

03

Nothing outsourced

No offshore desk and no third-party dispatch. Everyone on your account is on our payroll.

04

Continuity tested, not assumed

We perform restores and record the results, so the plan is evidence rather than a document nobody has opened.

05

Flat monthly cost

Per-user pricing with no long-term contract required. You own your hardware and licenses outright.

06

Family owned since 2015

No franchise, no regional quota. The people who own the business are reachable.

Orlando remote IT questions

What happens to our support during a hurricane?

It continues, because we are not in Florida. Our monitoring, tools and engineers are in Arizona, so we can bring systems up in the cloud, redirect phones and coordinate recovery while your staff are dealing with their homes. That independence is one of the strongest arguments for remote support on the Gulf and Atlantic coasts.

Can you handle federal contract security requirements?

We implement and document the technical controls that simulation and defense contracts expect: access control, MFA, encryption at rest and in transit, logging and retention, patching and media handling. We help you prepare evidence for assessment. We do not certify compliance and no honest provider would.

Our guest Wi-Fi and office network are on the same equipment. Is that a problem?

Yes, and it is one of the most common findings we make in Orlando hospitality. A guest device should never be able to reach a back-office machine or a payment terminal. We separate them into distinct VLANs with firewall rules between, which usually requires configuration changes rather than new hardware.

How do you deal with constant seasonal turnover?

By making account lifecycle a process. New hires get provisioned from a standard template, departures are disabled the day they leave, and we review the full account list with you on a schedule so nothing lingers. It removes the single most common security gap in high-turnover businesses.

Do you have staff in Orlando?

No. We are family owned and based in Gilbert, Arizona, and we support Orlando remotely. When physical work is genuinely required we arrange it through a vetted local partner with an Orca engineer directing the work.

What are we signing up for?

Flat monthly per-user pricing with no long-term contract required. You own your hardware and licenses. The Deep Dive assessment is free and the report is yours regardless.
