New Orleans, Louisiana
Orca IT is a family-owned managed services provider in Gilbert, Arizona, supporting New Orleans businesses remotely across the CBD, the Warehouse District, Mid-City, Metairie and Elmwood. We handle the help desk, the patching, the security and the backups. From June through November we also handle the question every Gulf Coast owner asks in August: if we lose the building, what still works?
Overview
This is a city where the busiest weeks and the riskiest weeks overlap, and where a lot of revenue is earned by hospitality operators who have no margin for a dead point-of-sale terminal.
Hospitality and tourism set the tempo. Restaurants in the Quarter and the Marigny, hotels along Canal and Poydras, catering and event companies working the Convention Center, and tour operators across the city all live on systems that must work at peak hours rather than at convenient hours. Their pain is specific: a POS that drops off the network during a Saturday dinner rush, a property management system that will not sync with the booking channel, a guest Wi-Fi that shares a flat network with the back office, and card processing that has to satisfy PCI questions nobody on staff wants to answer. Our remote support service covers all of it without anyone waiting on a van.
The second pillar is energy services. A large number of Louisiana firms exist to support offshore and Gulf operations, engineering, inspection, logistics, marine services, fabrication and the supply chain running down to Port Fourchon. These companies deal with enormous CAD and survey files, staff who rotate offshore with limited connectivity, and customers who send security questionnaires that read like a compliance audit. They need documented access control, MFA everywhere, and a file platform that does not fall apart when three offices and a vessel all want the same drawing set. That work sits inside our cyber security service.
Then there is the river. The Port of New Orleans, the terminals along the Mississippi, freight forwarders, customs brokers and warehousing along the Jefferson Parish corridor run on scheduling and EDI systems that are unforgiving about downtime. When a broker cannot file, the container does not move. We keep those workstations patched, the line-of-business connectivity monitored, and the printers that spit out bills of lading actually working.
And underneath all of it is hurricane season. Every New Orleans business needs an answer for the week the power is out and the office is unreachable. That means backups held offsite and in a different region, servers that can be brought up in the cloud rather than restored to hardware that is now underwater, phones that follow staff to wherever they evacuated, and a written order of operations so nobody is improvising at 2am. Our managed IT plan includes that plan and tests it before the season, not during it.
We ask New Orleans clients to finish continuity testing before June 1. A restore you have never tested is a hope, not a backup.
What We Cover
Everything below is delivered remotely by our own engineers in Arizona. Nothing is dispatched to a call center.
Offsite, out-of-region backup copies, cloud failover for critical servers, and a one-page runbook your manager can follow without an engineer on the phone.
Separate VLANs for POS, back office and guest Wi-Fi, monitored uplinks, and fast response when a terminal drops mid-service.
MFA enforcement, conditional access, anti-spoofing records and mailbox auditing so a spoofed vendor invoice does not get paid.
SharePoint and file server design that handles CAD, survey and inspection data without version chaos across offices and offshore crews.
We supply the technical answers energy and port clients need when a customer sends a security assessment, and we fix the gaps it exposes.
Modern EDR, patching and 24/7 alerting under Pod Watch, so a ransomware attempt is caught while it is still one machine.
How It Works
A free remote assessment over screen share. We inventory machines, check backup jobs, review your Microsoft 365 tenant and look at how your network is segmented.
A short document listing what is urgent, what can wait and what is fine. You keep it whether or not you hire us.
We deploy monitoring and remote-access agents, apply a security baseline, document your environment and verify that backups actually restore.
The same small group of engineers answers your tickets. Same-business-day human response, after-hours emergency response for Pod Care clients.
Arizona does not observe daylight saving time. In winter we are one hour behind New Orleans, in summer two, so our engineers are still working when your Central-time office has closed, which is when cutovers and maintenance belong.
That is one of the reasons remote works well here. Our engineers and our monitoring are nowhere near the storm, so our ability to help does not depend on Louisiana power or Louisiana internet. If your office is dark, we can be bringing systems up in the cloud and redirecting phones while your staff are still on the road.
Most work does not require it. When it genuinely does, such as a failed switch, a cable run or a hardware swap, we arrange it through a vetted local partner and stay on the call to direct the work. We are Arizona-based and we do not pretend to have staff in New Orleans.
We support the network, the workstations, the back-office server and the connectivity that your POS depends on, and we coordinate with your POS vendor when the issue is inside their application. Most rush-hour failures we see are network or workstation problems, not the POS itself.
Yes. Energy services and port-adjacent firms get these constantly. We provide the technical documentation on access control, encryption, MFA, patching and backup, and we close the gaps the questionnaire exposes so the next one is faster.
Same business day for human response, and faster than that in practice for anything blocking work. Pod Care clients also get after-hours emergency response, which matters for hospitality clients whose worst hours are Friday and Saturday night.
Flat monthly per-user pricing, so your IT budget stops moving. There is no long-term contract required, you own your hardware and licenses, and the initial assessment is free.
Free remote assessment, plain-English findings, no obligation. Your pod is with you.
