Scoping call
Sites, shifts, headcount, line-of-business software and the outage that made you call. Thirty minutes.
Louisville, Kentucky
Orca IT supports Louisville companies remotely from Gilbert, Arizona. We are family owned, we have never outsourced a ticket, and our afternoon runs well past your close of business, which is exactly when logistics and healthcare systems want maintenance done.
What Matters Here
A city built on air cargo, healthcare and manufacturing has a different failure list than a city built on offices.
When your operation ships overnight, a 2am outage is not an inconvenience, it is a missed sort. Pod Watch monitors servers, switches and internet circuits continuously and alerts before users notice.
Handheld scanners, Zebra label printers and WMS clients are the quietest cause of dock delays. We manage the print servers, drivers and wireless coverage behind them.
Practices and post-acute providers across the metro need encryption, access control, audit logging and provable backups. We build to the safeguards and document what we did.
Racking, dock doors and steel eat 5 GHz. We design coverage properly with surveyed access point placement rather than adding another cheap unit at each dead spot.
Manufacturing floors around Jeffersontown and the river run controllers that will never be patched. We VLAN and firewall them away from the business network instead of pretending they are safe.
When your EDI feed or carrier portal breaks, orders stop. We keep the connectors, certificates and scheduled jobs monitored so failures surface early.
Overview
Louisville's economy is organized around movement. Air cargo, ground freight, warehousing and the supplier businesses that feed them set the rhythm, and healthcare runs alongside it as the other constant.
That shapes everything about support. A professional office can absorb a two-hour outage with some grumbling. A distribution operation cannot, because the truck leaves whether or not your WMS is responding. So the priority order changes: monitoring first, redundancy second, response speed third, and only then the nice-to-haves. We build Louisville environments in that order.
The healthcare side is the other half. The metro carries a heavy concentration of health insurance, senior care, home health and specialty practice work, plus the hospital corridor along Chestnut and Broadway and the eastern medical offices out toward Middletown. Those clients need HIPAA technical safeguards done properly: unique user accounts, encryption at rest and in transit, session timeouts, audit logging, business associate agreements and backups that have actually been restored. We handle that through Pod Care, with Pod Guard security layered on top.
Manufacturing and distilling round it out. Appliance and automotive supply plants, plus the bourbon industry's bottling, warehousing and visitor operations, all run mixed environments: a modern office network on one side, and shop-floor equipment on the other running control software on Windows versions that stopped getting patches years ago. Ripping that out is rarely realistic. Isolating it is. We segment those systems onto their own VLANs behind firewall rules so a phishing click in accounting cannot reach a bottling line PLC.
Now the clock. Louisville is on Eastern time and Arizona never changes its clocks, so the gap between us moves with the season. In summer we are three hours behind you. Your 8:00am is our 5:00am, and your close of business at 5:00pm is our 2:00pm. In winter that narrows to two hours. The practical effect is that our afternoon covers your evening, which is unusually useful here. Patching, reboots, firmware upgrades and cutovers that would disrupt an Eastern-time day happen during our normal working hours. Your first shift never sees the maintenance window. For urgent morning issues, Pod Care includes after-hours emergency response, and monitoring runs continuously regardless of what time either of us thinks it is.
Louisville clients frequently share engineers with our Nashville and Memphis accounts, since the industry mix rhymes. Start with remote support or browse every city we cover.

How It Works
Sites, shifts, headcount, line-of-business software and the outage that made you call. Thirty minutes.
We map endpoints, servers, network gear, Microsoft 365 and backup jobs, then rank every finding by risk and cost.
Monitoring agents deployed, MFA turned on, backups fixed and tested, unsupported systems isolated or scheduled for replacement.
Pod Care day to day, plus a Surface Check business review so leadership sees where the budget went and what is next.
Our afternoon is your evening. Most Louisville windows cost you nothing in downtime.
Three hours in summer and two in winter, because Arizona does not observe daylight saving time while Kentucky does. Your 8:00am is our 5:00am from March to November, then our 6:00am for the rest of the year. It also means our normal afternoon is your evening, which is a good window for maintenance.
Monitoring and alerting run 24/7 through Pod Watch, and Pod Care clients get after-hours emergency response for genuine outages. We are honest about this: we do not staff phones around the clock. We monitor around the clock and respond to real incidents at any hour.
The design and configuration work is remote, and it is usually where the real problem lives, overlapping channels, wrong power levels, one SSID doing too many jobs. Access point mounting is physical work, so we ship preconfigured units and coordinate a local partner to place them where the design says.
We do not pretend it is fine and we do not demand you scrap it. We put it on an isolated VLAN, block its internet access, restrict which machines can talk to it, and put a documented recovery image aside. Then we help you plan the replacement on a real timeline.
We help you meet HIPAA's technical safeguards, access controls, encryption, audit logs, backup and recovery, and documented policies. We are an IT provider, not a certifying body, so we do not issue compliance certificates. We do give you the evidence your auditor asks for.
Pod Care is flat monthly per-user pricing with no long-term contract required, so budgeting is predictable and a bad month does not generate a surprise invoice. The Deep Dive assessment before you commit is free, and you keep the findings regardless.
