Sites, seasons, systems and the outage you are still annoyed about. We plan around your calendar from the first call.
Fresno, California
Orca IT supports Fresno-area growers, packers, processors, clinics and professional firms remotely from Gilbert, Arizona. Family owned, never outsourced, and used to businesses where the calendar decides when downtime is allowed.
What Matters Here
Central Valley businesses do not have an even twelve months. Six things we get right because of that.
During harvest and pack, nothing non-critical gets touched. We agree the freeze window in advance and do the risky work in the quiet months instead.
The PCs behind scales, graders, sorters and labelling equipment get monitored, imaged and documented so a dead machine is a swap, not a shutdown.
Ranch offices, coolers and outlying facilities often run on marginal connections. We design for that with sensible failover rather than assuming fibre everywhere.
Lot tracking, audit records and food safety documentation depend on systems that must not lose data. We back them up with immutable copies and test the restores.
Crews scale up and down. We build a clean onboarding and offboarding process so temporary accounts do not stay live for years after the season ends.
Valley summers are brutal on unconditioned equipment rooms. We monitor temperature and flag thermal risk before a server starts rebooting on its own.
Overview
Fresno is the commercial centre of one of the most productive agricultural regions on earth, and the technology supporting it is a strange mix: modern cloud software sitting on top of infrastructure that grew organically over twenty years.
A typical operation here has an office running Microsoft 365 and an accounting or ERP package, a packing facility with a handful of industrial PCs, a scale house, a cooler with monitoring sensors, ranch offices on wireless or cellular links, and field staff on phones and tablets. Nobody planned it as a single system. It accumulated. Our first job is usually to draw the map that has never existed, which is exactly what the free Deep Dive produces.
From there the priorities are predictable. Backup comes first, because payroll, lot traceability and food safety records are the things you cannot recreate. Then identity, because Microsoft 365 accounts with no MFA are how most small businesses actually get breached, and produce brokers move real money by email. Then network segmentation, so processing equipment and office computers are not sharing a flat network. Then the boring, valuable work: patching, monitoring, hardware lifecycle planning and a help desk that answers the same day. All of that is Pod Care.
Fresno also carries a substantial healthcare presence around the downtown medical district and the Herndon and Clovis corridors, plus a broad professional base of accountants, lawyers, insurance agencies and real estate firms, and a growing distribution sector along Highway 99. Healthcare clients get HIPAA technical safeguards built in and documented. Professional firms get email security and secure client file exchange. Distribution clients get uptime and warehouse Wi-Fi that actually reaches the racking.
On timing, Fresno is Pacific and Arizona never changes its clocks. From March to November we are on the same clock as you, hour for hour, which is as simple as remote support gets. From November to March California falls back and we run one hour ahead, so we are already working when your office opens. For agricultural clients that winter hour is genuinely useful, because it lands in the pre-dawn window when packing crews start and nobody wants to wait on IT. Monitoring runs continuously through Pod Watch either way, and Pod Care includes after-hours emergency response.
Fresno clients often share a pod with our Bakersfield and Sacramento accounts. If you want the delivery detail, read remote support, and the security stack is described under Pod Guard.

How It Works
Sites, seasons, systems and the outage you are still annoyed about. We plan around your calendar from the first call.
Free remote Deep Dive across offices, packing facilities and remote sites, written up with risks ranked.
Backups, MFA, aging hardware and network segmentation handled deliberately before your peak weeks arrive.
Pod Care management with 24/7 monitoring, change freezes honoured, and a Surface Check review each cycle.
None for most of the year. Arizona does not observe daylight saving, so from March to November we are on the same clock as Pacific time. In winter California falls back and we are one hour ahead, which means our engineers are already working before your office opens.
That is standard practice for us with Central Valley clients. We agree a change freeze covering your peak weeks, front-load the risky work into the quiet months, and limit peak-season activity to monitoring, help desk and genuine emergencies.
Yes, though we design around it. Remote management tooling is lightweight and works on modest connections. For sites where the link is genuinely unreliable, we look at cellular failover and local caching so a dropped connection does not stop work outright.
We support the computer side: imaging, documentation, patch policy agreed with your equipment vendor, network isolation and spare-machine planning. We do not service the mechanical equipment itself. The goal is that a failed PC becomes a thirty-minute swap instead of a lost shift.
With a documented onboarding and offboarding process tied to your season. Accounts get created with the right access, and more importantly they get disabled promptly when crews leave. Dormant live accounts are one of the most common security gaps we find in agricultural businesses.
Monitoring, patching, help desk, security tooling, backup management, vendor coordination and periodic business reviews, at a flat monthly per-user price with no long-term contract required. Larger projects are quoted separately so the monthly number stays predictable.
